Agweather provides up-to-date information on weather forecasts, radar and satellite readings and soil and water conditions. It also provides specialized weather information that pertains to livestock, crops, horticulture and range/forest production. |
Agweather is a FREE online tool that keeps you ahead of Oklahoma's changing weather. It uses the Oklahoma Mesonet to deliver the latest weather data. You’ll have the info you need, when you need it to meet Oklahoma’s weather challenges. Agweather and the Oklahoma Mesonet are jointly managed by Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma. Weather data is collected automatically and updated every 5 minutes from the 120 statewide Oklahoma Mesonet towers. The beginning of the Oklahoma Mesonet can be traced back to 1982, when Oklahoma scientists recognized the need for a statewide weather network. At OSU, agricultural scientists wanted to upgrade weather instruments at their research sites. Their goal was to expand the use of weather data in agricultural applications. Meanwhile, scientists from OU and the Oklahoma Climatological Survey were helping to plan and implement a flood-warning system for Tulsa. OSU and OU joined forces in 1987 when they realized that a single statewide weather network would help both universities achieve their missions. The professionals and faculty from these institutions bring together expertise in the areas of meteorology, climatology, agricultural production and natural resource management.
